Update: I added an optimized lower resolution map for those with Garmin devices that will say ‘map too large’.
If any of you use a GPS that accepts custom maps, you are able to add new maps to your device for your specific region. I guess users would normally overlay a map onto Google Earth and then save the map into their GPS’s correct folder.
I have a Garmin Oregon 400c and I made a custom map that could be useful to others. It’s basically the map of the North Indian River Lagoon as well as most of Mosquito Lagoon provided by FWC (Florida Wildlife Commission) that has all of the speed zones overlayed from their online PDF.
I’m going to host 3 files here for use: the original FWC speed zone PDF, a JPG I created with all of the speed zones, and then the .KMZ custom map file for use on GPS devices.
Hope this helps (You may need to right click -> save as).
