2012 FWC Tarpon Genetic Recapture Study Release

Tarpon Study

Are you a poon tagger? The 2012 Tarpon Genetic Recapture Study has been released to the public. The study relies on anglers to pick-up free kits around the state from FWC and use them to get tarpon sample DNA to be sent in to FWC researchers. The data is then collected and tons of meaningful conclusions can be made from everything they put together. Tarpon migrations, catch rates, growth rates, and group habits are just some of the data points that are collected and help FWC protect the species into the future.
