More Poon News: Tarpon & Bonefish to Be Catch and Release Only!

Normally when the government gets involved in things, they mess it up and it gets worse. In this case, there was a move proposed by FWC to bring tarpon and bonefish into a catch and release only designation which is much needed for both species. Needless to say, the proposal passed unanimously and is being brought to the next meeting in Lakeland, FL for a final public hearing. Other good news; FWC will be reviewing the definition of ‘snag’ in light of what is going on in Boca Grande! These are all positive steps forward to restoring Florida’s fisheries.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), at its April 17 meeting near Tallahassee, moved forward unanimously with a proposal to make tarpon and bonefish catch-and-release-only fisheries.
