Deadrise Custom Boats is a new player in the ever-changing landscape of options a skinny water angler has these days. Their initial hull dubbed the ‘Zero 18’ looks really neat and boasts some impressive design work and specifications.
The Zero18 has an overall length of 18’2″, a 73″ beam, and a zero-degree deadrise at the transom. Center console, side console, and tiller versions will be offered. Power options range from a 40 hp tiller to the rated maximum of 70 hp, which delivers a top end of around 40 mph with two men, fuel, and gear. Static draft ranges from 4″ to 7″, depending on options, power, and load.
The design of the boat as seen in the initial photos has a huge spray rail to keep occupants dry and the chine has been pulled away from the water for a stealthy poling experience. The initial photos on their website show the water a little high up on the rear trim tab for draft – but the official specs from above state 4-7″ which will change depending on motor weight and occupant weight.
This looks very promising and hopefully they can gain traction in the skiff market soon!
